During this 5-day stay we will walk the trails linking six villages in Sierra de Aracena, honoring their gastronomy, natural and human landscapes. Each day we will walk 10 kilometers, –five in the morning and five in the afternoon—in the company of people well versed in the richest asset of the rural environment, its Life Essence.
We will stay the first day in Aracena, spending the first two nights at Casa Noble, a place that treasures serenity as the top lodging luxury. In this town we will visit the Museo Del Jamón (Ham Museum) and, concealed in a cave, one of the Sierra´s greatest gems, the Gruta de las Maravillas (Grotto of the Marvels), a touristic icon of the area celebrating its 100 years of public display. We will cherish the town´s gastronomy at Restaurante Montecruz, where chef Manolo masters a creative traditional cuisine based on the produce of the Sierra, using Passion as primary ingredient. The result is a delicate gastronomic experience in every bite.
The second day we will discover Corteconcepción. Through a circular trail running among vegetable gardens and pastures we will reach this little town of 600 inhabitants, where we will learn about the production of the Ibérico ham from Jamones Eíriz, a family-owned company with almost two hundred years of history. We will walk with them the pastures and their facilities, and will savor the gourmet products of the Iberian pig.
For our third day we will walk to a place where the magic of past times remains intact: Linares de la Sierra. After learning the there are other was to Live Life, we will put the Iberian pig back in the center of our attention at Restaurante Los Arrieros, where Luismi and Adela have become referents of an emotion-filled cuisine.
In the afternoon, escorted by the music of water, we will head to Alájar, a place full of charm and known by the spectacular lookout of Peña de Arias Montano. With innkeepers Ángel and Lucy with spend the night at Posada San Marcos, an ecological lodge recognized by the European Charter for Sustainable Tourism.
In the fourth day, after a hearty breakfast prepared by Lucy´s loving hands, we will set out to Castaño Del Robledo through a gorgeous trail crossing landscapes of lush vegetation. The picturesque town´s center has been declared Historic-Artistic monument, and there we find Restaurante Maricastaña, where chef Antón will conquer our senses with his gently-cooked creations.
Our walk will continue by the trail of Rivera de Jabugo until we reach the town that gives name to the product, Jabugo. Here, jamón´s aroma is all over the place. We will spend our last night back at Posada de San Marcos.
Walking the Paths of the Ibérico is an experience of five nights with activities distributed along four days.
